ABOUT US...
After graduating from college in Pennsylvania, Mark moved to California, where he and Sandra (a California native) met through mutual friends. We have a very strong relationship built on trust and open communication. As "best friends" we love and support each other unconditionally and encourage one another to pursue our own individual interests, hobbies and goals, while at the same time valuing the time we spend together as a couple, parents, and family.

We have been together for almost 20 years, and have been happily married for the past 14 years. Four years ago we started the open adoption process after many years of disappointment from trying to have a baby on our own. Amazingly, shortly after starting the process, and against all medical odds, we found ourselves to be pregnant. Our one in a million pregnancy has made us the proud parents of a happy, healthy and very curious two year old named Ryan. Now we are hoping to find a one in a million birthmother to help us add to our loving family.

OUR HOME AND NEIGHBORHOOD
We live in Novato, California, about 30 minutes north of San Francisco. Our spacious home has five bedrooms, a view of the mountains, and our backyard borders 16 acres of open space. Our neighborhood has many families with young children and there is a terrific park just around the corner with swings, slides and teeter-totters. Education is very important to us, and one of the main reasons we chose to live in Novato was because of its excellent schools.

Sandra is a college graduate and loves being able to work out of her home office as a Western Regional Sales Manager for a software company. Being based at home has given her the chance to spend lots of time with our son Ryan and will afford her the same opportunity with a new baby. Her interests include running, keeping fit, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.

MARK ON SANDRA...
Sandra is an energetic, compassionate, caring, fun, and very loving woman. She is a wonderful mother who through a combination of natural instincts and education has done a fantastic job or raising our son Ryan. She has a very affectionate, giving nature and is supportive and easy to talk to. One of Sandra's favorite things is taking our son Ryan to his weekly playgroup where he gets to run around and play with all his buddies while she can discuss the joys and challenges of parenthood with the other mothers.

Mark works as Senior Treasury Manager for a software company that is only a short commute from our home. Mark enjoys outdoor fitness activities, such as running, cycling, swimming, and tennis.

SANDRA ON MARK...
Mark is the most selfless and genuinely considerate human being I know and he is a wonderful father. He is a terrific listener and someone to whom others-family and friends alike-often come to for advice because he is able to see all sides of a situation. As a father he is attentive, fun and loving. Mark enjoys putting Ryan to bed every night cuddling up and reading stories. Adding another little one to the audience would be just wonderful. Mark is a very sensitive, honest and caring man who has a great sense of humor and is able to get along with anyone he meets. I really love and admire him and feel blessed that he is my husband.

FAMILY LIFE
Having both come from close-knit, loving families, with 6 siblings between us, we know that growing up in a home with brothers and sisters adds so much to ones life. We want to create a similar environment where our children laugh, learn and love together.

While we both lost our fathers in the past year, and Mark's mom passed away a few years ago, Sandra's mom lives very close by and is an extremely active and engaged Grandma. Also there are many aunts, uncles, and eight cousins who can't wait to love and play with our new baby. We frequently spend vacations together snow skiing in Lake Tahoe in the winter, and spending a week or two at the beach in the summer. At Christmas time we have a tradition of going to a torchlight parade on Christmas Eve where Santa skis down the mountain to meet all the children and give them gifts.

We also have a great network of friends with young children whom we love to spend time with enjoying pony and miniature train rides, houseboat and water-skiing trips to Lake Shasta, going to birthday parties, and having barbecues.

When Sandra was a child, her family lived in West Africa for 5 years, where her parents, who are both college professors, helped build a public school system. She found this to be an incredibly exciting life adventure. We are both very open and accepting people who enjoy traveling and learning about other cultures.

As parents, we have experienced the joy of hearing our child speak his first word, take his first step, and count to ten. We have much more love to give and want to give another child the opportunity to have a healthy and happy life. We will cheer our children in their successes and give them support when they need it. As a family we want spend time going on bike rides along the bay, camping in Yosemite, watching Little League games, and taking frequent trips to southern California to visit Sandra's brother, his two little girls, and Disneyland.
